CREATIV returns in 2014 with the Word of Africa book club. This month we will be reading ‘We Need New Names’ by Zimbabwean writer NoViolet Bulawayo. Bulawayo is a former winner of the prestigious Caine prize in 2011 and was the nominated for the Man Booker prize in 2013, being the first African woman to have ever been nominated. I know very little about the book and I am not super familiar with Bulawayo’s work but she seems to be a definite one to watch. For a taste of Bulawayo’s writing you can read her Caine Prize winning story 'Hitting Budapest' in the Boston review here . However, feel free to jump in cold – I sure am. Anyway till next month enjoy Bulawayo’s words.
